Nandana Idipolage, Deputy General Manager of Railways, stated that the normal Saturday train timetable would be implemented on the day of the Presidential Election (September 21).
In response to Ada Derana’s question, he added that long-distance trains will run on Sunday (22) and that short-distance rail journeys may drop slightly.
Meanwhile, the Department of Railways has announced plans to run a special train between Colombo Fort and Kankesanturai for government officials and security personnel involved in electoral responsibilities.
