The Election Commission says that it is possible to vote or mark preferences for a candidate of your choice in this year’s presidential election.

Election Commission Chairman R. M. A. L. Mr. Ratnayake explained how the vote should be marked.

“A candidate can vote by entering the number 1 in the box preceding the name and symbol of the candidate. Also, if any candidate is expected to mark preference, second preference can be given by marking 2 digits and third preference can be given by marking 3 digits.

If someone intends to use the X mark instead of this number 1, that vote will also be accepted as a valid vote in this election.

It is not possible to mark preferences after the vote is given with the X mark.
