Asian 800m gold medalist Olympic athlete Tharushi Karunaratne is scheduled to leave for America today (31) for sports training and to study management degree.
She will attend Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, next week, for which Tharushi has received a full 4-year scholarship.
Tulane University has an athletic team called the Tulane Green Wave, and Tharushi will represent that team in the future.
The Tulane Green Wave athletics team is represented in major tournaments as a member of the American Athletic Association.
Sports teams such as football, basketball, volleyball and baseball operate under Tulane Green Wave, and a sports complex is also located separately.
Tharushi has received scholarships from several universities, and she has chosen a university where she can do both sports and education.
