A criminal who had issued a red notice has been transferred from India.

An organized criminal linked to several crimes has been brought to the island from India today (24).

This organized criminal who had issued red notices was brought to the island this evening (24) after being brought to the island from India by air and was taken into custody by a team of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Katunayake Airport and handed over to the Keselwatte Police for further action.

The suspect is a 34-year-old resident of the Keselwatte area.

Several criminal charges have been framed against the suspect and cases have been filed in the courts in this regard.

Charges have been filed against him for murder by assault with a weapon in Keselwatte Police Division in 2015, aiding and abetting murder by shooting in Kotahena Police Division in 2018, murder by assault with a weapon in Ottakkuliya Police Division in 2021, possession of a live grenade in Kotahena Police Division in 2021, robbery and possession of drugs in Keselwatte, Wellaveediya, and Bloemendal Police Divisions, etc.

Further investigations into the suspect will be conducted under the direction of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Colombo.
