The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has issued a warrant for the arrest and production before court of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa after he failed to appear before the court today (21).
The warrant was issued in connection with the case filed over an incident involving the blocking of roads near the United Nations office in Thummulla, Colombo, during a protest held in 2016 to coincide with the visit of then UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
