The Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court has ordered the release on bail of the Chief Prelate of Atamasthana, Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, who was accused of seriously sexually abusing a minor girl.
He was ordered to be released on two personal bails of 5 million rupees (50 lakhs) each and a cash bail of 100,000 rupees (1 lakh).
The Magistrate also informed that the bail order would be cancelled if the bail conditions are violated or if influence is exerted on the witnesses.
A travel ban has also been imposed on Hemarathana Thero.
