Azad Maulana, the former private secretary of Pillayan, has stated that he is ready to return to Sri Lanka and reveal facts regarding a number of crimes involving the intelligence services, including the Easter Sunday attacks, provided that security is guaranteed for him and his family.
He had previously expressed his views via the Channel 4 network regarding a connection between the Easter Sunday attacks and Pillayan.
Meanwhile, Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, mentioned in the Fort Magistrate's Court today (20th) that following the Easter Sunday terror attacks, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa, and Basil Rajapaksa had visited Pillayan, who was being held in the Batticaloa prison at the time, and assured him that steps would be taken to secure his bail within a week of Gotabaya Rajapaksa coming to power.
Dileepa Peiris stated this in court based on statements provided by Pillayan's former private secretary, Azad Maulana.
It was also revealed that the statement of Azad Maulana, who currently resides in France, had been recorded at the French Embassy.
