COLOMBO – Former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, was arrested today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The arrest took place shortly after the former Minister appeared before the CIABOC office in Colombo this morning. Nanayakkara’s appearance was highly publicized after he made a dramatic statement to the media upon arrival, predicting his own remand and alleging the move was politically motivated revenge.
"It looks like I won’t be returning today after going to the Bribery Commission," the former Minister told reporters, claiming that "a certain woman wants to take revenge on me."
The CIABOC has been investigating allegations of bribery or corruption against Nanayakkara. Following his formal arrest, he is expected to be produced before a Magistrate for a remand order. (NewsCenter)
