
The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has announced that the number of lives lost due to the adverse weather conditions currently affecting the island has risen to 56.
The highest number of fatalities has been reported from the Badulla District, recording 21 deaths.
The second-highest death toll is from the Kandy District, which has reported 15 deaths.
In addition, 7 deaths have been reported from the Kegalle District.
The DMC also stated that 21 persons are currently reported missing.
