
The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka thus far in 2026 has exceeded 55,000.
According to the latest update issued by the National Dengue Control Unit, a total of 55,406 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
The number of dengue-related deaths has also increased to 32, according to officials.
The Acting Director of the Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara said that 1,024 new dengue cases were reported within the past 24 hours alone, indicating a continued rise in infections across the country.
