The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced that water supply interruptions will continue in several areas within the Colombo District today (April 3) due to the prevailing dry weather conditions affecting the island.
According to a statement issued by the Board yesterday (02), water supply will be suspended in areas including Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya, which depend on the Kalatuwawa Reservoir and Labugama Reservoir.
The water cut in the Padukka area is currently in effect, having commenced at 8:00 p.m. yesterday (02), and is scheduled to conclude at 8:00 p.m. today (April 3).
In addition, a 24-hour water suspension is scheduled for the Homagama area, beginning at 8:00 p.m. today (April 3) and continuing until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (April 4).
This will be followed by a water cut in the Palanwatta area from 8:00 p.m. on April 4 until 8:00 p.m. on April 5.
The NWSDB stated that these interruptions will be implemented on a rotational basis once every three days in the affected areas.
However, the Board assured that a continuous water supply will be maintained on days when no cuts are scheduled.
Under this rotational system, the next scheduled water cuts will occur on April 7 in Padukka, April 8 in Homagama, and April 9 in Palanwatta.
