Disaster Toll Reaches 123 Fatalities; 130 Still Missing Across Sri Lanka

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reports that 123 disaster-related deaths have been recorded due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. The update was issued in a special notification this morning (29th) at 9:00 AM.

The situation remains critical, with 130 individuals currently reported missing.

National and District Impact

The disaster has now affected all 25 districts of the island:

• Total Affected: 373,428 people belonging to 102,877 families have been impacted.
• Displacement: 43,925 individuals from 13,690 families are currently sheltering in 488 safe locations.

Casualty Breakdown by District:

The Central Highlands have borne the brunt of the tragedy:

• Kandy District: 51 deaths recorded, with 67 persons still missing.
• Badulla District: 35 deaths recorded, with 27 persons still missing.
• Matale District: 8 deaths recorded.
