
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Hearth has held discussions with several foreign ministers of gulf countries pertaining to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Minister Herath has exchanged views on a number of topics during a phone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi.
The Foreign Minister noted that he exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and expressed his gratitude for Jordan’s support to the Sri Lankan community.
Minister Vijitha Hearth has also agreed that restoring regional peace must be a top priority and has reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Vijitha Hearth has held a phone conversation with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani and exchanged views on regional developments.
During the discussion, Minister Herath underscored the importance of de-escalation and diplomacy to safeguard regional stability. He has also expressed Sri Lanka’s appreciation for the assistance provided by Bahrain to the Sri Lanka community in the country.
Separately, Foreign Minister Vijitha Hearth and his Lebanese counterpart Youssef Raggi have shared perspectives on the current regional developments and reaffirmed their joint commitment to de-escalation and the protection of civilians through sustained diplomatic engagement.
Moreover, a discussion has been held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Hearth and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the evolving regional situation.
The Minister during the discussion reaffirmed commitment to peace and security and had urged for restraint and de-escalation through diplomacy.
He had also thanked the government of Kuwait for the support extended to the Sri Lankan community.
