The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission and remanded in connection with ongoing investigations into the “Siriliya Saviya” account.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering submissions made by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, who appeared on behalf of the Bribery Commission, and the attorneys representing the suspect.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa was recently arrested by the Bribery Commission over the alleged illegal transfer of Rs. 10 million belonging to the National Savings Bank to the “Siriliya Saviya” organisation.
