Heavy showers above 100 mm expected in several parts of Sri Lanka today

The Department of Meteorology has said that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 1.00 p.m. today (07), the Meteorology Department stated.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary, localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
