
The Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, arrived in the island last night (18) for a three-day official visit, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) informed.
The SLAF said the Indian Air Force Chief visited the Indian Peace Keeping Force Memorial in Battaramulla this morning (19) and paid floral tributes. The SLAF added that the visit of the delegation is scheduled until May 21.
The Air Force stated that the Indian Air Force Chief was then received with a ceremonial guard of honour at the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters.
During this visit, the Commanders of the Indian Air Force and the SLAF held a official meeting. The Indian Air Force Chief also met with the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Defence Secretary and held discussions, the Air Force said.
The Air Force stated that the main objective of this visit was to further strengthen the long-standing defence relations and mutual friendship between Sri Lanka and India.
During this official visit, the Air Force Chief and the delegation are scheduled to pay homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.
