Colombo, Sri Lanka — The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has discovered that a woman named Ishara Sewwandi, who is alleged to have aided and abetted the murder of organized crime leader Ganemulla Sanjeeva, has fled the country.
This revelation came during interrogations of a group of organized criminals, including Kehelbaddara Padme, who were recently arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia, and brought back to Sri Lanka.
The suspects—Kehelbaddara Padme, Lahiru Madushanka (alias Thambili Lahiru), N.N. Prasanga (alias Backhoe Saman), Nilanga Sampath Silva (alias Panadura Nilanga), and Shalintha Madushan Perera (alias Commando Salintha)—were arrested in a joint operation by the Sri Lanka Police, Jakarta Police, and Interpol. They are currently being held under a 72-hour detention order for questioning.
Out of this group, Kehelbaddara Padme, Panadura Nilanga, and Commando Salintha are being questioned at CID headquarters. Meanwhile, Thambili Lahiru and Backhoe Saman are in the custody of the Western North Criminal Division at the Colombo Port Police.
During the interrogations, significant details emerged regarding the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeeva, who was killed inside a courtroom at the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Complex. The suspects revealed that Ishara Sewwandi fled to a foreign country after the murder.
Additionally, Indonesian police confiscated 28 mobile phones from the suspects at the time of their arrest. These phones have since been handed over to the Sri Lanka Police, and investigations have begun into the call logs and data on the devices. (NewsCenter)
