Nearly 100kg of heroin and other narcotics to be destroyed

A stock of narcotic drugs, including 99 kg 478 g of heroin, will be destroyed on Saturday (25) following the completion of court proceedings.

The drugs will be incinerated at the Wanathavilluwa incineration facility in Lakthotawatta, Puttalam.

Police said the consignment includes 99 kg 478 g of heroin linked to cases concluded at the Marawila Magistrate’s Court, as well as narcotics ordered to be destroyed by courts across the island and currently held by the Government Analyst’s Department.

The narcotics are scheduled to be transported from the Marawila Court Complex on Saturday morning before being destroyed at the Wanathavilluwa facility.
