Private bus operators call for increase in minimum fare to Rs. 32–33

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association has requested the National Transport Commission to implement an interim revision of bus fares following the recent increase in fuel prices.

Speaking at a media briefing held today (31), Association Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said the adjustment should be introduced ahead of the annual bus fare revision scheduled for July.

He said the industry is expecting a five per cent fare increase to take effect from the second of next month.
