
‘Ratmalana Saima’, who is alleged to be a close associate of organized criminal figure ‘Kanjipani Imran’, has been handed over to the Peradeniya Police for further investigations.
Organized crime suspect Danushka Kaushalya, alias “Ratmalane Saima”, and two other suspects arrested in Malaysia were brought back to Sri Lanka yesterday (10).
The Police Media Division stated that the suspect was handed over to the Peradeniya Police last night (10).
A team of officers from the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit, with the assistance of the Malaysian Police and Interpol, recently arrested the organized crime suspect in Malaysia, where he was the subject of a Red Notice.
Two other individuals from the Ratmalana area who were accompanying the main suspect were also arrested. Police stated that all three suspects were brought back to Sri Lanka for further investigations.
‘Ratmalana Saima,’a 41-year-old resident of Ratmalana, is an accused in two cases pending before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court.
Police said he has been named as an accused in two cases in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of a person in 2014 and the shooting and killing of another person in 2016, both within the Peradeniya Police Division.
Accordingly, the suspect has been handed over to the Peradeniya Police for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the other two suspects who were arrested in Malaysia and brought back to Sri Lanka are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (11).
