
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage stated that this year’s Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be held tomorrow (09) at 2,723 examination centres islandwide.
A total of 294,089 candidates are sitting for the examination this year, comprising 220,366 candidates registered in the Sinhala medium and 73,723 candidates in the Tamil medium.
She stated that tuition classes related to the examination ended at midnight on August 5, and that conducting promotional activities related to the Scholarship Examination through print or electronic media is strictly prohibited until the examination concludes.
She further noted that parents will not be permitted to enter the examination centres.
To help candidates maintain their mental focus and sit the examination with ease, the Department of Examinations has advised them to arrive at their respective examination centres one hour before the examination commences.
Paper II will be distributed first, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Following a short break, Paper I will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The Commissioner General of Examinations also stated that all candidates sitting for the examination should carefully read the instructions on the question paper, write their index numbers accurately, and provide their answers directly on the question paper in clear handwriting.
Furthermore, she stated that bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, notes, or any other electronic devices into the examination hall is strictly prohibited.
