Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya Holds Bilateral Talks with PM Modi in New Delhi

NEW DELHI – Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held bilateral discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today (October 16) as part of her official visit to India.

The high-level meeting covered a broad spectrum of critical areas aimed at deepening the relationship between the two neighbouring nations.

Prime Minister Modi confirmed the productive discussions in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Glad to welcome Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ms. Harini Amarasuriya. Our discussions covered a broad range of areas, including education, women's empowerment, innovation, development cooperation and welfare of our fishermen."

Modi further emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration: "As close neighbours, our cooperation holds immense importance for the prosperity of our two peoples as well as the shared region."

The discussions align with the commitment of both leaders to enhance economic, social, and regional stability. Prime Minister Amarasuriya is scheduled to conclude her visit tomorrow (October 18), having utilized the trip to reinforce diplomatic and development ties with India's top leadership. (NewsCenter)
