Harshani Sandaruwani, a United National Party (UNP) Municipal Councillor for Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and later released on bail after being produced in court.
The arrest was made in connection with an incident on August 22, when she allegedly insulted the court and its rulings regarding the arrest and judicial proceedings of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The CID's special investigations unit conducted a probe that led to her arrest. Following her court appearance, she was granted bail.
