
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court ordered the case against former Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and other suspects to be recalled on August 25, regarding the alleged import of substandard organic fertilizer during the previous government.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodharagama presided over the hearing today. Bribery Commission officials informed the court that investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
The Magistrate directed the Commission to report on the progress of these activities when the case returns to court on August 25. The Bribery Commission filed this complaint against the former Minister and others, alleging they caused a loss of over Rs. 1.3 billion to the state by importing a shipment of substandard organic fertilizer from a Chinese company.
