CID requests a "Blue Notice" from Interpol over former Minister Basil Rajapaksa

According to Sri Lanka Police, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has asked Interpol to issue a "Blue Notice" for the arrest of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa in relation to three allegations.

Money laundering charges and charges pertaining to the investigations into the purported misappropriation of cash from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau are among the claims.

The purchase of a property in Browns Hill, Matara, and the purported misappropriation of Rs. 7.8 million in funds from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau to distribute 12,000 T-shirts during the Uva Provincial Council election campaign are the subjects of the investigations.

Law enforcement uses an international notice known as an Interpol "Blue Notice" to gather further details on a person's identity, whereabouts, or activities in relation to a criminal investigation.
