One male and three females missing while bathing in Maha Oya

Four people, including three women, are reported missing and are thought to have drowned while taking a dip in the Maha Oya, according to police.

According to police, a group of four young women and one young male went to the Ma Oya to take a bath when the event happened at around 2:00 p.m. today. Four of them reportedly took a bath in a dangerous location.

One of the young women started to drown, according to the police, and while they were trying to save her, the other three also submerged and vanished.

Local residents and the police have launched a joint operation to locate the three missing young women and the young man.

The body of the missing young male has been recovered while search operations are still underway to locate the three missing young females.

The missing persons are reportedly aged between 20 and 25 and are residents of the Badulla and Haputale areas.

It is also reported that they are employed at a factory in the Badalgama area.
