Clash breaks out between Harak Kata and Kehelbaddara Padme

Alleged organised crime figures and drug traffickers Nandun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias "Harak Kata," and Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, alias "Kehelbaddara Padme," clashed yesterday afternoon while in prison custody.

Kehelbaddara Padme sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the Welisara Naval Hospital for treatment. He was later discharged and returned to his prison ward.

Prisons Department spokesperson Senaka Pallewatte confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the altercation.

In a separate development, the Illegal Assets Investigation Division has frozen properties valued at over Rs. 47.5 million, allegedly acquired through drug trafficking by a resident of Padavi Parakramapura.

Police arrested the 47-year-old suspect and his 45-year-old wife in connection with the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Western Province North Crimes Division seized 3.599 kilograms of kush and 2.409 kilograms of hashish, allegedly imported from abroad via a private courier service.

Police said the seizure was made based on information provided by a suspect held under detention orders.
