Notorious drug trafficker Shiran Basik and two other underworld figures, who were arrested recently in Dubai, are expected to be brought back to Sri Lanka tonight (14), Sri Lanka Police said.
In May, it was initially reported that Shiran Basik had been arrested in Dubai, UAE by Dubai security forces and that, however, Sri Lankan authorities had not yet received official confirmation of his arrest.
Reports indicate that he allegedly has links to an Iranian drug trafficking network and is also wanted by the US authorities.
Reports further claimed that he had been living in Dubai while posing as a wealthy businessman.
Shiran Basik is believed to be one of five major traffickers involved in supplying narcotics to Sri Lanka.
