Schools in the Deniyaya education zone will reopen tomorrow (13) following a temporary closure due to a spreading viral flu.
The Southern Provincial Education Secretary, Nishan Pathirana, says the decision follows a previous plan to reopen schools today, which was delayed to ensure all health safety measures were properly completed.
School premises are being cleaned and disinfected today and yesterday to guarantee student safety before academic activities resume.
Authorities are requesting any volunteers or organisations willing to assist in cleaning schools and preschools to contact the Deniyaya Zonal Education Office.
Preschools currently on leave will remain closed for the rest of this week.
