Gnanasara Thero to be produced before court today

Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, who was arrested in the Thiniyawala area while an open warrant was in effect against him, is due to be produced before court today (04).

The Court of Appeal recently issued an open warrant for his arrest, as he had been sentenced to a term of imprisonment for contempt of court.

The Court of Appeal had also imposed a travel ban preventing the Thero from leaving the country.

Despite the warrant, Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was arrested last night (03) at the Thiniyawala Aranya Senasanaya in Kalutara.

Following his arrest, Gnanasara Thero was brought to the Colombo Crime Division last night.
