COLOMBO — Police have discovered another cache of white, rock-like chemicals suspected of being used to manufacture 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine), this time hidden in plain sight as garden decor at a house in the Kandana area.
The owner of the house told police that he initially believed the substance was a fertilizer like dolomite, used for landscaping. He added that the individuals who rented the house paid him a lump sum of Rs. 1,350,000 for eight months' rent.
The discovery was made yesterday (07) evening by the Kalutara Crimes Division, acting on a tip-off. The chemicals were found both inside the house and scattered on the front lawn. The owner told investigators that the materials were brought in by his tenants.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but no suspects have been arrested so far.
