Sri Lankan cricketer Dunith Wellalage, who returned home following the sudden death of his father, is reportedly set to leave the island tonight to rejoin the national squad for the Asia Cup.
Wellalage's father, Suranga Wellalage, passed away from a heart attack yesterday during Sri Lanka's match against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. Upon hearing the tragic news, Dunith returned to Sri Lanka this morning.
Although his father's final rites are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Wellalage has decided to travel back to the United Arab Emirates to represent his country in the tournament.
Sri Lanka's first Super Four stage match is scheduled for tomorrow against Bangladesh. (NewsCenter)
