COLOMBO – The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a landslide early warning for several Divisional Secretariat (DS) Divisions across seven districts due to the persistent heavy rainfall currently affecting the island.
The warning is valid from 4:00 PM today (October 19) until 4:00 PM tomorrow (October 20). Residents in the specified areas are urged to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities.
The districts and the corresponding Divisional Secretariat Divisions named in the NBRO’s warning are as follows:

The NBRO has advised residents in these areas, particularly those living on slopes or near hillsides, to be prepared to evacuate immediately if the rainfall continues or if they observe any signs of landslides, such as ground cracks, slope instability, or spring water surges. (NewsCenter)
