COLOMBO – Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially announced the appointment of legendary pacer Lasith Malinga as the Consultant Fast Bowling Coach for the National Men’s Team.
The appointment, which is on a short-term basis, is effective from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026. Malinga’s primary focus will be the preparation and development of the national fast-bowling unit as they enter the final stages of the build-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

By leveraging his vast international experience, the board aims to equip current bowlers with the tactical skills required for the high-pressure situations of the T20 format.
The upcoming T20 World Cup, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India, is set to be a landmark event for the region. The tournament will officially kick off on February 7, 2026, with the opening match taking place at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo.
