COLOMBO — National People's Power (NPP) Member of Parliament, Nilanthi Kottehachchi, has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media that she is the individual pictured alongside former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a viral photograph. The photo is reportedly linked to a recent wedding ceremony mentioned on the former President's official Facebook page.
In a statement posted on her personal Facebook account, the MP categorically denied any involvement, asserting, "I write for the sake of the party supporters to state that the person seen appearing in the photograph circulating on social media with Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa is not me."
MP Kottehachchi further clarified her non-attendance and non-invitation status at the event in question, stating, "I did not attend the said wedding mentioned on Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s official page, nor was I an invitee at that wedding ceremony."
Crucially, the Member of Parliament issued a stern warning regarding the image's authenticity. She emphasized that if the photograph is found to have been manipulated or edited, she would immediately initiate legal action. The denial underscores the political sensitivities surrounding public figures being photographed together, particularly during heightened political tension. (NewsCenter)
