
More than 96,000 individuals have been affected by the prevailing dry weather conditions, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
The DMC stated that a total of 96,584 people across six districts in the country have been affected by the dry weather.
Accordingly, 94,356 individuals belonging to 29,584 families in 28 Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) across Ampara, Badulla, Batticaloa, Monaragala, Polonnaruwa and Ratnapura districts have been affected.
The highest number of affected people has been reported from the Monaragala District, where 11,751 families have been affected by the dry weather.
Meanwhile, the distribution of drinking water to people affected by the dry weather is continuing.
The DMC further said that drinking water is currently being distributed across 28 DSDs in the six affected districts.
