
Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) island-wide have decided to engage in a token strike today (21) by reporting sick.
The token strike is being conducted in protest against the alleged arbitrary transfer of the most senior Medical Officer of Health at the Katunayake Airport Health Office.
General Secretary of the Public Health Inspectors’ (PHI) Union of Sri Lanka, Chamil Muthukuda, stated that the decision was taken by the union’s Executive Committee, which convened on the night of the 19th.
Accordingly, Public Health Inspectors have also decided to withdraw from all dengue control activities across the island starting from yesterday (20).
The Public Health Inspectors’ (PHI) Union of Sri Lanka has also submitted a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media regarding the issue.
