President to inaugurate 'Himikama' freehold land deed programme

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to preside over the national launch of the 'Himikama' freehold land deed programme this afternoon (27) at the North Central Provincial Council Auditorium in Korakahawewa, Anuradhapura.

During the ceremony, 500 freehold deeds will be distributed to beneficiaries in the Anuradhapura District. The programme aims to grant absolute ownership to farmers and residents currently occupying lands under permits and grants issued via the Land Development Ordinance No. 19 of 1935.

The government plans to expand this initiative across all districts island-wide in the future.
