The All Island Canteen and Restaurant Owners' Association has decided to increase the price of rice and curry, fried rice, and kottu by 20 rupees, citing the rise in gas prices. This adjustment is intended to offset the increased cost of fuel used for cooking in the restaurant sector.
Conversely, the association announced a 10-rupee reduction in the price of short eats (snacks). This move comes as a response to the declining cost of coconut oil, which has provided some relief in production expenses for fried savoury items.
These price revisions are scheduled to take effect starting from midnight tonight (06).
