
KWALE, Kenya — A devastating plane crash in coastal Kenya has tragically killed all passengers and crew on board. The light aircraft, operated by Mombasa Air Safari, crashed near the Indian Ocean coast on Tuesday morning.
“Sadly, there are no survivors,” Mombasa Air Safari confirmed following the incident.
The accident occurred around 8:30 AM (05:30 GMT) in the Kwale region. Regional police reported that all those killed were tourists. Heavy rain was reported in the coastal area at the time of the crash.
The plane went down in a hilly and heavily forested area, located approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Diani airstrip, according to aviation authorities.
The aircraft burst into flames upon impact, leaving behind a charred wreckage. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang before arriving at the scene where they discovered human remains. Citizen TV station tragically noted that the bodies of those on board were burned beyond recognition.
Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde confirmed that investigating agencies are currently looking into the cause of the crash. (NewsCenter)
