Several spells of showers expected in parts of the island

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, today (10), the Department of Meteorology said.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m.

Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province, the Met. Department stated.

Strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over North-central, North-western, Central and Southern provinces and Trincomalee District.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers, it added.
