ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The Sri Lankan cricket team, led by captain Charith Asalanka, has touched down in Islamabad, marking the start of an anticipated white-ball tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday.
The tour schedule is packed, featuring a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series followed by a T20 triangular tournament.
The ODI series between host nation Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and will run from November 11 to November 15.
Following the ODIs, a high-stakes Twenty20 triangular series will commence. The PCB confirmed that the tournament will feature Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka.
The T20 series is set to be played across two venues—Rawalpindi and Lahore—from November 17 to 29.
Pakistan enters the series with strong momentum, having just clinched a three-match ODI series against South Africa on Saturday.
In the decisive third ODI, Pakistan secured a convincing seven-wicket victory, thanks to a fluent half-century from batsman Saim Ayub and a match-winning four-wicket haul by spinner Abrar Ahmed, sealing the series 2-1.
Reflecting on the hard-fought series win, victorious skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was captaining Pakistan in ODIs for the first time, expressed confidence:
“It’s a complete team effort and a reward for hard work. This win will give us confidence for the coming matches.”
With Pakistan riding high on their success and Sri Lanka eager to make their mark on foreign soil, the upcoming matches promise a thrilling spectacle for cricket fans.
