Van Collides with Lorry on Southern Expressway, Killing One and Injuring Six

Colombo – A woman has died and six others, including three children, have been injured in an accident on the Southern Expressway between the Gelanigama and Kahathuduwa interchanges.

Police stated that the accident occurred in the early hours of this morning (16) when a van, traveling from Galle to Colombo, collided with the rear of a lorry.

The injured parties from the van—the driver, another male passenger, and two women—were admitted to Homagama Hospital. The three children were admitted to Kalubowila Hospital. One of the women admitted to Homagama Hospital subsequently succumbed to her injuries.

Police have identified the deceased as a 35-year-old woman. Her body has been placed at the Homagama Hospital morgue. The Moragahahena Police are conducting further investigations into the incident. (Bimal Shyamen -Bandaragama)
