The SLC Greens were crowned champions of the SLC T20 League 2025, defeating the SLC Greys by 23 runs in a thrilling final held at the SSC Grounds in Colombo today (August 16).
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Greens' top order put on a dominant display, posting a commanding total of 189 for 4. Opener Kusal Mendis led the charge with a blistering 77 off just 47 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. He was well-supported by Sadeera Samarawickrama, who hammered an unbeaten 49 from 29 deliveries. Captain Kamindu Mendis also played a pivotal role, adding a quickfire 42 runs from 23 balls to boost the team's total. For the Greys, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 45 runs.
In pursuit of 190, the Greys started strongly but were unable to maintain the momentum. Niroshan Dickwella provided a quick start with a brisk 50 from 28 balls, while Dinesh Chandimal scored a fluent 36.
