The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the allocation of an estimated Rs. 581 million under the Clean Sri Lanka programme to implement development projects in 25 towns identified under the government’s ‘Mithuru Purawara’ initiative.
The programme was proposed under the 2026 Budget with the objective of improving small towns for the convenience and well-being of local communities. Under the initiative, one priority development project has been identified for each selected town, with plans to complete the projects by 2026.
Accordingly, 25 towns have been selected for development under the programme, while projects for 23 towns have been identified during the initial phase.
The proposal to secure funding through the Clean Sri Lanka programme for the implementation of the identified projects was presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, Bimal Rathnayake and received Cabinet approval.
