Couple (21, 24) Dies as Motorcycle Skids and Collides with Lorry on Horana Road Bend

A tragic accident occurred this afternoon (October 4) when a motorcycle collided with a lorry near the bend at the Kananwila Temple on the Horana-Moragahahena road. Horana Police confirmed that a young married couple was killed in the incident.

The deceased couple, aged 21 and 24, were residents of the Berakatiya area in Moragahahena.

The collision took place around 11:20 AM today. A lorry traveling from Moragahahena towards Horana collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction (Horana towards Moragahahena). Police suspect that the motorcycle rider lost control on the bend, causing the bike to skid and collide with the lorry, which was traveling in the correct lane.

Following the accident, local residents and another small lorry driver transported the injured to the hospital. However, the police reported that the young couple, who had sustained serious injuries, died upon admission to the Horana Hospital.

Horana Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
