COLOMBO — Sri Lanka’s foreign remittances and tourism earnings continue to show robust growth, according to the latest statistics released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
In August 2025, Sri Lanka received $680.8 million in foreign workers' remittances. The cumulative remittances from January to August 2025 reached a total of $5.116 billion, marking a significant 19.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, official data from the Central Bank indicates that tourism earnings have also exceeded $2 billion in the first eight months of the year.
Total tourism earnings from January to August 2025 were recorded at $2.03 billion, a 7.8% increase when compared to the $1.88 billion earned during the same period in 2024. (NewsCenter)
