Two spill gates of the Upper Kotmale Reservoir have been opened today (21) due to continued rainfall in the catchment areas, reservoir engineers said.
They further stated that if heavy rainfall continues in the area, the remaining spill gates will open automatically.
Accordingly, residents living along both banks of the Kotmale River downstream of the reservoir dam are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
