
An 11-member Japanese delegation, coordinated by Connaissance De Ceylan, a leading tourism company in Sri Lanka, arrived in the country this morning (14) to visit the Presidential Secretariat to promote tourism.
The delegation's objective is to study and gain an understanding of Sri Lanka's folk history, the arrival and spread of Buddhism, traditional culture, Ayurveda, traditional customs, food patterns, economic crops, etc.
They discussed the possible interventions to improve the tourism industry between the two countries and stated that they will share the knowledge they have gained with the people of Japan.
Also, issues such as promoting Sri Lanka as a leading tourist destination in Japan and taking Sri Lanka's cultural heritage to the international stage, focusing on the areas of Colombo, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Mahiyanganaya and Kandy, were discussed.
Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage, and a group of senior officials participated in this event.
In addition to the Presidential Secretariat, the delegation visited Sapugaskanda Purana Viharaya, Mihintale, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Dambana, Malwatta Maha Viharaya, Port City and many other unique places.
