According to global economic data, Sri Lanka has achieved high growth in 2025, says Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security R. M. Jayawardena.
The Minister stated this while participating in the inaugural ceremony of the carpeting and development of the road from Maligatenna Junction to Post 11, Madugahapitiya in the Badalkumbura Divisional Secretariat.
He also said that the bankrupt country is now gradually developing and moving forward.
"The country is being taken forward through a targeted program while stabilizing the country and facing the challenges of the world economy. All sectors have progressed in line with the pace of economic growth.
Meanwhile, our country suffered a loss of more than one hundred million rupees due to the recent Ditwa disaster. The money that was supposed to be used for the development of the country has had to be used to pay for that loss. We have already taken steps to restore the country by paying compensation for a large amount of damage caused by the Ditwa.
We, as a government, are committed to providing the people of the country with a 'rich country, a beautiful life' with an understanding of the world and without fraud, corruption, waste of public money, and cutting private privileges."
The work of the second joint road investment program under the Rural Road Development National Program implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development was launched today (14).
Accordingly, under the second Integrated Road Investment Program (i-Road Project) funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), another road will be developed in the Monaragala District of the Uva Province.
A financial allocation of Rs. 600 million will be spent on the development of this 11-pillar Madugahapitiya road, which will provide quick access to the Badulla - Monaragala (A-22) main road and the Pussellawa road.
The road development work is to be carried out by local construction companies selected under the competitive and transparent procurement process under the auspices of the Road Development Authority.
